The Mission this month is Water For People.
The CM mission is “to meet the basic needs of qualified people in Southwest Denver who are experiencing economic hardships and related problems”. CM provides a food bank, children’s clothing bank, energy assistance, schools supplies and Holiday baskets to those in need in our community. This organization receives support from neighborhood churches like us, individuals, foundations, government, business and community groups.
Volunteers are always needed. A recent request is for drivers with a pick up truck to help with weekly pick up of food from donors. In addition, the new warehouse needs stockers. You can call or e-mail CM to discuss volunteering at 303.935.3428 or contact@comministry-denver.org. The address is 1755 S. Zuni.
Our monthly food item for February to donate to CM is BRY BEANS. You may leave these at the church to be delivered to the food bank.
In addition, CM says to remember items that start with "C": Coats (adult and children); Children's underwear and Clothing (especially sizes 2T to 5T); Canned goods of all kinds; and last but not least, Cash.
Children's Haven is a family operated non-profit child care center located at 2600 S. Sheridan, just across the street from our church. Children's Haven was established in 1988 and currently operates as a non-profit child care center specializing in the CCCAP (Colorado Child Care Assistance Program, a Colorado program that assists low income families) along with a specialized program designed for Teen Parents of all counties allowing them to remain in school while their children receive loving care. We also welcome private pay parents as well. Children's Haven believes in providing quality child care for infants, toddlers, preschool children, before and after school children as well as a full summer program for all ages. The summer program includes structured programs, interesting field trips and a large play area for children ages 2 through 12 yrs of age.
Christ Congregational Church members provide tutoring in the afternoons for children from the 1st to the 6th grades. This is a tremendously rewarding and enjoyable way to give back to our community.
Meets at the Church on Sunday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Please enter through the patio door on the east side of the church.
